Infrastructure upgrade

A major infrastructure upgrade took place on Monday 22 November. The new infrastructure significantly boosts the performance and capacity of the website.

The majority of the website functionality remains unchanged. In particular, the the query tool, area reports and standard reports remain unchanged.

There are changes to simplify the site menu bar layout and to make the appearance of the sources section consistent across all data series.

• The Census sources (data catalog) pages now use the same style as the sources pages for other data series. Their content remains unchanged.
• The separate Area reports and Standard reports menu bar items have been merged into a single Reports item.
• The pages under the former Need help? menu bar item has been merged into a single Contact us page. The Forum facility available under Need help? has been withdrawn due to a combination of low use and problems transferring it to the new infrastructure.
