April 2018 data released

The monthly update of the Claimant Count and ONS Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) series took place at 09:30 on 15 May 2018 with the release of new data for April 2018. As usual the claimant count figures for the previous month, March 2018, were revised at the same time. The full list of updates is given below.

This release marks the second release of figures on a Tuesday following the announcement by ONS on Tuesday 13 February 2018 that they would be changing the day of the week that they publish labour market statistics from a Wednesday to a Tuesday as of April 2018.

Minor historical revisions from May 2013

In addition to the release of April 2018 and March 2018 data, there have been minor revisions to the geo-referencing of Universal Credit data supplied by the Department for Work and Pensions as part of the Claimant Count. These minor revisions affect all periods of data in the Claimant count by sex and age dataset from May 2013 onwards.

The revisions in the underlying Claimant Count data have also led to ONS rerunning the seasonal adjustment for those periods, resulting in further revisions to the Claimant Count seasonally adjusted dataset over the same time frame.
