MetadataText
Workplace-based rates are calculated by expressing the number of claimants who are resident in each area as a percentage of workforce jobs plus the claimant count. Workforce jobs are the sum of: employee jobs, self-employment jobs, Her Majesty's Forces, government-supported trainees. The largest component of the workforce is employee jobs which comes from a survey of employers. As a result the rate is a workplace-based measure, which expresses the demand for jobs in an area. Workplace-based rates can be requested for all dates for which claimant count data are available but are only available for regions (government office and standard statistical) and countries.
